“One of the factors for the deterioration of the roadway is heavy trucks. Because of the heavy weight, they put a strain on the road, especially if the loading rules are violated. An overloaded vehicle is dangerous for all road users. According to statistics, in 70% of road accidents involving heavy vehicles, there are violations of the weight restrictions,” the press service said.
They also noted that violators will be detained until the overweight is eliminated, for exceeding the permissible mass and axle load. It is also envisaged to move the violator to a special parking lot. “Mobile weight control points change their location every time, and the weighing itself goes on around the clock,” added the CTO press service.
According to the institution, from the beginning of the year more than 3 thousand cargo vehicles were weighed by the weight control and logistics department of the CTO together with the traffic police. 1040 violators of weight restrictions were identified.
Currently, in Moscow, from 06:00 to 22:00 there are restrictions on the entry and movement on the territory of Moscow for vehicles weighing more than 12 tons. From 06:00 to 22:00 cargo vehicles with a lifting capacity of more than 1 ton may not move between the Moscow Ring Road and the Third Transport Ring.
